Linux Mint Update To Restore Emblem Option
Thursday, September 11, 2014:
The look of Linux Mint operating system is being worked upon so that it
gets improved. In order to do the improvement, developers are
integrating all kinds of new features which make the distribution more
interesting and much more attractive to new users.
Couple of weeks ago it was
announced that users will soon be able to access to a variety of themes
with different colour options. The default colour of Linux Mint theme
has been green but this colour ha
s not impressed everyone. Now users
will be able to modify the system theme from a collection of themes
which are built in the system. There was no existence of GNOME 3 or
Cinnamon a few years ago. The most used desktop environment used to be
GNOME 2 which featured emblems.
Users could place emblems on the folders to make them more recognisable. Some design choices were also made but this feature was no more in GNOME 3. Cinnamon also didn't feature this option either. Now Linux Mint developers intend to correct this by taking back the emblem feature once again.
Clement Lefebvre wrote in a blog, "In GNOME 2 you could right-click a file or a directory, click Properties and assign it a little emblem icon. You can enjoy that feature in MATE but for some reason it was removed from GNOME 3 and thus it never made it to Cinnamon. Anyway, this came to our attention so we're bringing it back. With a few emblems you can add visual clues to directories, mark files as favorites... it's yet another tool for you to decide how to sort things in your computer.”
