Tupelo Mymo Fitness Tracker Launched In India
Saturday, September 06, 2014:
The first mymo fitness tracker has debuted in India after being launched
by Dubai-based Tupelo. Most of the fitness trackers these days are
offered in the form of smartwatches or wrist bands but Tupelo's mymo is
something different and unique. It is a coin-sized device which you can
clip with your shirt, trouser pockets or belt.
Even if you keep it inside
your pockets, the device works. CEO of Tupelo, Martyn Molnar, said, “We
purposely made mymo as a clip-on device so that it is clipped to the
core of the body and not hands. In doing so, the accuracy of the device
is greatly increased.” This tracker can track steps, distance covered
and calories count, wirelessly. It can also record data for up to 35
days within which users can sync the data with the TupeloLife iOS or
Android app for further reference.
Molnar added further, “Our
initial research showed an 85 per cent dropout rate in the the first few
weeks of buying a wearable device. So, we wanted to make users engaged
with mymo through the rewards program. Also, one of the main reasons of
not making mymo a smartwatch or wrist band is to ensure that the device
doesn't become a style statement for users. Smartwatches and wrist bands
tend to get old fashioned very early from the user’s point of view.”
Mymo
is powered by ordinary batteries, which are used in watches, and the
battery life is claimed to be for six months. The device has no display
though and if you want to sync you just need to shake the device. The
mymo comes with three LED indicators which also alerts about the battery
life. Tupelo is also offering a reward package with the mymo in which
users can convert them to real rewards like talk time, groceries and
many more. If users complete their fitness goals and stay continuously
active, then the rewards are offered which also include international
vacation.
Mymo is offering a 12-month subscription package at Rs
3,999 which includes the mymo device, TupeloLife app and rewards. Later
ona a premium subscription scheme will also come up at Rs 9,999 giving
access to MobileDoctors and MyCoach for 24x7 fitness consultations. The
device has also connectivity options like Bluetooth and ANT, though the
latter one is not readily available. Mymo is available at Amazon.in.
